Perplexity
Perplexity connects to remote MCP servers through custom connectors, available on Pro and Enterprise plans (an admin must enable custom connectors for the organization on Enterprise). Orbismo works with either of Perplexity’s supported auth choices, so you can use the connector or a single-world API key.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”You’ll need one of:
- To use the connector: nothing extra, you’ll sign in during setup.
- To use an API key: your world’s ID (the UUID in the portal URL,
https://app.orbismo.com/worlds/{world_id}/...) and a key from Generate an API key. Use a read-only key for your first connection.
The connector (recommended)
Section titled “The connector (recommended)”- In Perplexity, open Account settings → Connectors.
- Click + Custom connector and choose Remote.

- Acknowledge the risk notice and click Add.
- On the Connectors screen, click the new Orbismo card to start the sign-in flow. Sign in and choose which worlds this connection may access.

A single world with an API key
Section titled “A single world with an API key”- Follow steps 1-2 above.

- Acknowledge the risk notice and click Add, then enable the connector from the Connectors screen.
This pins Perplexity to that one world. Use a separate connector and key per world.
Verify
Section titled “Verify”On the Connectors screen, confirm the Orbismo card shows as Connected with its tools listed. If a tool is missing, the usual cause is that your access level (or active world, on the connector) doesn’t include it. See Troubleshooting.
Use it in a chat
Section titled “Use it in a chat”Enable the Orbismo connector for a thread from the composer’s tools menu, then name it in your prompt so Perplexity reaches for the right tools:
Use Orbismo to list my worlds, then switch to "Family History".What it can do follows your role on whichever world is active (or the key’s permission, for an API-key connection).
