ChatGPT

Orbismo is an official plugin in the ChatGPT plugin directory. Install it with a couple of clicks. No configuration is needed. The plugin uses Orbismo sign-in, so it’s the connector method (one connection, all your worlds, switch in conversation). ChatGPT doesn’t take a static API key, so the per-world API-key method doesn’t apply here.

  1. Open the Orbismo listing in the plugin directory, or browse to chatgpt.com/plugins (also reachable from Settings → Plugins or the Plugins entry in ChatGPT’s sidebar) and search for Orbismo.
  2. Click Install plugin.
  3. ChatGPT sends you to Orbismo to sign in and choose which worlds the plugin may access. Approve to finish. Orbismo now appears in your plugin settings.

These steps follow OpenAI’s official guide, Plugins in ChatGPT and Codex. See it for the latest on where things live in ChatGPT’s UI.

The plugin isn’t active everywhere. You bring it into each conversation:

  1. Type @Orbismo in the message composer and select it, or click the + button, then More, and select Orbismo from the list of tools. It stays active for the rest of that conversation.

  2. Name Orbismo in your prompt so ChatGPT reaches for the right tools:

Use Orbismo to list my worlds, then switch to "Family History".

From there, describe what you want in your world’s vocabulary and ChatGPT calls the right Orbismo tools. ChatGPT asks you to confirm tool calls that make changes before they run. You can tune this per app (“Always ask”, “Ask before making changes”, or the default “Ask only before important changes”). To work in a different world, just ask it to switch.

What the plugin can do follows your role on whichever world is active (read-only on worlds you only view; read-write where you’re an editor or owner). Manage which worlds it can reach, or disconnect it, from the portal’s Connected AI and Apps page. See The connector for details.

Advanced: add Orbismo manually in developer mode

Section titled “Advanced: add Orbismo manually in developer mode”

If you can’t use the directory listing (for example, it’s restricted in your region or workspace), you can still add Orbismo as a custom MCP app in ChatGPT’s developer mode, available on paid plans (Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Edu; on workspace plans, an admin must allow it first). See OpenAI’s developer mode docs for details.

  1. In ChatGPT, open Settings → Security and login and turn on Developer mode.
  2. In your app settings, create a new app:
    • Name: Orbismo
    • MCP server URL: https://app.orbismo.com/api/v1/mcp
    • Authentication: choose OAuth.
  3. Sign in to Orbismo and choose which worlds the app may access, exactly as with the plugin install.

The result is the same connection. Only the setup differs.

If a connection or tool isn’t working, see Troubleshooting.
